Cotopaxi Volcano Tour

Leaving Quito in the morning and driving for an hour and a half we will reach the entrance to the Cotopaxi National Park. Cotopaxi is one of the tallest active volcanoes in the world!

We will start our tour at the Cotopaxi Visitors Center, at an altitude of 3845 above sea level. (12600 feet). And look at the souvenir shop.

And then we will visit the Limpiopungo Lagoon, Laguna De Limpiopungo, where we will walk along the lagoon, get acquainted with the flora and the birds.Before starting the tour to the volcano, you will have a short break to visit a small craft market of local residents and drink coca leaf tea.
We will continue and go up by shuttle to a parking point at an altitude of 4,500 m above sea level (14,700 feet). From here we will start a hike that will last about two hours round trip to reach Jose Ribas point, at an altitude of 4,800 above sea level. (15,700 feet).

After finishing the route we will have lunch at one of the most historic points of the Andes, Casa Hacienda La Cienega. After lunch we will go to Parmo and visit a local family where we will see their clothes and customs. But the most important thing is that we will be with them in a typical native house, Built of clay soil mixed with straw and a thatched roof. There we will observe and learn about the local culture, the breeding of animals and the way of life of the local residents
