Lost City Trek
Our most popular trek, the Lost City Trek, is an unforgettable experience and a must-do for anyone who wants to get to know Colombia. The Lost City is the archaeological site of an ancient city that dates back to 800 A.D., even older than Machu Picchu. To reach the ancient ruins in Tayrona, you must walk through the deep jungle of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and then climb 1,200 stone steps. The trek will take you up and down the Sierra Nevada mountain range, offering unforgettable scenery and wildlife. The terraces carved into the mountainside, a network of tiled roads, and several small circular plazas show how technologically advanced the ancient Tayrona people were, giving a deeper appreciation for the history of the Colombian coastal settlements.
